he module is to examine the concept of socio-economic development and nation building and what it is all about and why it is necessary for journalists/media persons to always take development of society into consideration in their practice. It also discusses the role, impact of news media on and their contribution to the success of developing society.

  • Demonstrate their understanding of socio-economic development and nation building
  • Discuss the role, impact, and contribution of news media in developing society
  • Discuss how knowledge of socio-economic development and nation building is necessary and how it will enhance the practice of journalism to meet the demands of society and citizens
  • Discuss the role of the media as enshrined in the 1992 constitution and other laws in Ghana.
